THE FREE GIFT OF ATONEMENT

…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace which is in Christ Jesus…

(Rom 3:23-24, NASB.)

The free gift of salvation can never be severed from Judgment Day, (Rom 14:10; 2 Cor 5:10). Our global society thrives on human rights, and a growing number of people do not want to hear conversations or sermons on Judgment Day. It is as though they find the thought of “judgment” offensive, and to some extent, as an insult. Yet, we cannot keep this important knowledge from humanity, for it determines their eternal future. No person will be exempt from this day, “for all the world are accountable to God,” (Rom 3:20), and, “there is no partiality with God,” (Rom 2:11).

Almighty God, the righteous Judge (Ps 67:4), has the legal right to acquire accountability of conduct from every soul in His Court of Law, (Rom 1:18-32; Rom 2:1-11). Indeed, a Day of Judgment has been appointed in which Almighty God will render judgment for every soul, as it is written, ‘When I select an appointed time, it is I who judge with equity. But God is the Judge; He puts down one and exalts another. For a cup is in the hand of the LORD, and the wine foams; It is well mixed, and He pours out of this; surely all the wicked of the earth must drain and drink down its dregs,’ (Psalm 75:2 & 7-8).

JUDGEMENT DAY will require of every soul to pay the penalty of unrighteousness due to SIN, and that penalty is eternal DEATH, (Rom 6:23; Acts 17:30-31). No one will be exempt UNLESS God’s requirements for righteousness are fulfilled in order to satisfy His wrath on all ungodliness and unrighteousness, (Rom 1:18).

In order to nullify eternal death (separation from God), Almighty God requires “a life for a life,” (Ex 21:23). Also, atonement can only be accomplished through a blood sacrifice, ‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I (God) have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’ (Lev 17:11). [Insertion added by the author.]

Moreover, in order to pronounce the guilty justified, Almighty God will require a perfect MAN to appear in His Court. One man might easily sacrifice his own life for another human being, perhaps, and so fulfill the requirement of paying the penalty for death through the shedding of blood. YET, there is no man found perfect in righteousness to offer his own life for the unrighteous of another. Even the most pious could never fulfill the Law, for if you trespass one law, you are guilty of trespassing the WHOLE LAW, (Gal 5:3; James 2:10-11).

The Father of Grace provided all the requirements for atonement in ONE Person – the blood sacrifice of the Unblemished (perfect) Lamb, His Only Begotten Son. The One who was without sin sacrificed His life to sprinkle His own blood on the Seat of Atonement in the Holy of Holies of the Tabernacle erected without human hands, and thus GRACE is extended to ALL humanity. [See Hebrews 8 & 9.]

The sacrificial blood of a righteous Man, Jesus Christ, who knew no sin, is the free gift of the Father to each and every soul who accept, by faith, the provision of redemption – THE ATONEMENT OF THE BLOOD OF THE UNBLEMISHED SON OF GOD. Hence the Apostle Paul’s exclamations in his epistle to the Ephesians, ‘In Him (Jesus Christ the Messiah) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished upon us,’ (Eph 1:7-8).

From Abel to Noah to ME! No soul has to perish, for all can be saved through this free gift of salvation. Thus, ‘I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH,” (Rom 1:16-17).
